Samuel Butler’s book “Journey to Erewhon” inspired the name, but it was nature and their admiration of the outdoors that encouraged a group of outdoor enthusiasts’ to create the first Erehwon store. Founded in 1972, "Erehwon Mountain Supply" began its humble beginnings in an 800 square foot store on Devon Avenue on Chicago's North Side. Our store was created for the sole purpose of providing passionate outdoor enthusiasts with only the best quality gear and expertise. Over 40 years and 5 stores later, we continue to hold true to our original mission.
