At Tirami Su in downtown Northville, owners Frank Grippi and Megan Abrams think alike. The two are engaged to be married next year, and also share the business. Their time together at the restaurant is focused on two things: Serving quality food & customer satisfaction.
Grippi has 29 years experience in the restaurant business. He was born and raised in Italy, and came to New York when he was 20 years old. He started out as a dishwasher, and then moved to kitchen help, and eventually became a chef. "It took me 10 years to learn the Italian and American dishes, and the right way to prepare each of the over 1500 different items I can make," Grippi said.
Tirami Su has been in Northville seven years, but Grippi came into ownership five years ago. He also is the main chef there. Grippi said receiving the People's Choice Award touched him. "I am very appreciative of those who voted, and it really means a lot to us."
"The restaurant is based on a dessert. It's lady fingers soaked in Kahlua and espresso," described Abrams. "That caffeine gives you a pick-me-up feeling. The name of this restaurant is based on that too, a real pick-me-up."
